Small Farm Rising: Saranac
June 17, 2025 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Long a home to farmers, homesteaders, and subsistence communities alike, the Saranac River Valley remains a vibrant agricultural corridor featuring diverse farming operations and stalwart farmsteads, all of which maintain a notable impact on the local food scene. Like the Champlain Valley, farming has remained a defining staple here for well over a century. Join several passionate small farmers to learn how they are both stewarding the landscape around them and redefining traditional agriculture in this off-the-beaten-track corner of the Adirondacks. We will visit a group of farms and adjacent enterprises along the Saranac River corridor including Woven Meadows (meats, vegetables, and more), Oregano Flats (microgreens and vegetables), Bucksberry Farm (herbs, greens, and vegetables), and Little Big Farm (fresh and dried herbs, pumpkins, and vegetables). We will enjoy a farm-fresh lunch generously provided by Farmhouse Pantry, a local food hub sourced by neighboring farms. Bring your coolers, tote bags, appetite, and curiosity for this most recent entry into our Small Farms series!
This outing is led by passionate farmers from Woven Meadows, Oregano Flats Farm, Bucksberry Farm, and Little Big Farm.
The fee is $60 for AARCH members and $75 for non-members. Farm-fresh lunch from Farmhouse Pantry is included.
