Rockwell Kent Exhibits at Hyde Exhibit

The Hyde Collection has a special exhibit celebrating the American painter, printer, and illustrator Rockwell Kent who lived and worked in the Adirondacks from 1928 until his death in 1971. Many of Kent’s sketches drawn during travels to Greenland, Alaska, and other remote destinations were transformed into finished pieces while back at his Au Sable Forks studio. Guest curator Caroline Welsh will give a contextual lecture before leading us through Kent paintings drawn from North Country collections including a private collection rarely seen publicly.
Director of Curatorial Affairs and Programming Johnathan Canning will walk you through the print exhibit. In the afternoon, linger over a delicious boxed lunch and enjoy a docent-led tour of the historic Hyde house and grounds, including the butterfly garden.
The tour will be led by Caroline Welsh, former director of the Adirondack Experience, and guest curator, The Hyde Collection.
The tour begins at 10 a.m. and ends around 2 p.m.
FEE: $65 for members and $75 for non-members. The price includes one private talk, three private tours, admission and lunch.
