Kildare Club

William Seward Webb and Frederick William Vanderbilt originally founded the Kildare Club in 1892 as a 10,000-acre rustic hunting preserve near Tupper Lake. After the original lodge burned down, the Saranac Lake architectural firm of Scopes and Feustmann designed the current complex in 1906. The architects departed from the more traditional Great Camp layout where separate buildings served distinct functions. Instead, the large main lodge contains living, dining, and recreational spaces while additional family cottages, guest quarters, and a guide’s house provided extra living space. We will enjoy our lunch on the club’s grounds overlooking Jordan Lake, weather-pending. This private preserve is rarely open for tours and the Friedman family is graciously offering this unique opportunity to AARCH.
This outing is led by Kildare Club’s Bob Friedman. The tour begins at 10 AM and ends at 1 PM.
The fee is $60 for AARCH members and $75 for non-members.
