  2. For two summers in the late 60’s I worked and lived there. It was a remarkable experience. More remarkable than I knew at the time.

    Mrs. Garvan was still spending summers there in those years. One unusual duty was to quietly enter her bedroom in the early morning and start the fire in the fireplace beside the famous tree bed. That allowed her to wake up to a blazing fire lit by magic.

    It is a place so hard to describe both as architecture and a functioning private estate. Out of time and a remnant of a vanished lifestyle.
