Small Farm Rising: Keeseville

July 18 @ 10:00 am 3:30 pm

Keeseville Community Arts Festival

Farming has remained a defining staple of the Champlain Valley for over two hundred years. Today, local food production is transforming the landscape and revitalizing regional farming. In this outing, we will visit several small farms and meet local artisans who have ushered in a new wave of farming in the Adirondacks and promoting the agricultural arts of cheesemaking, wine and beermaking, butchering, and more. Start the day by exploring the Sand River Community Farm and how it serves its neighbors regardless of their financial means. Then, continue along Mace Chasm Road to explore a vibrant group of farms and adjacent enterprises including Mace Chasm Farm (meat and vegetables), Ausable Brewing Company (beer), North Country Creamery (milk, yogurt, and cheese). Lastly, end the day with a stellar view at the Highlands Vineyard overlooking Lake Champlain. We will enjoy samples and a farm-fresh lunch generously provided by Northern Feast Catering’s food truck. Bring your coolers, tote bags, appetite, and curiosity for this exciting experience!

This outing is led by several farmers and business owners from Ausable Brewing Company, Mace Chasm Farm, North Country Creamery, Sand River Community Farm, and Highlands Vineyard. This tour begins at 10 AM and ends around 3:30 PM.

The fee is $60 per person and $50 for Young Preservationists (35 and under). This outing requires pre-registration and is first come, first served to celebrate the Keeseville Community Arts Festival. A farm-fresh lunch from Northern Feast Catering is included.
