FULL: Sketching Adirondack Architecture Workshop–Saranac Lake
September 8 @ 1:00 pm – September 9 @ 4:00 pm
Whether you have no experience or are a seasoned artist, this hands-on experience will connect you to your inner artist and to the places you know and love! Through this workshop, participants will learn how to hone their observations and capture the details, scale, and special features present in the historic buildings across our region through sketching. In this two-day experience, participants will gain a new perspective on exploring the finer details of the built environment. On Friday, September 8, we will gather for a short, introductory class that will prepare us for the following day, when we will put pencil to paper and sketch Saranac Lake’s vibrant historic architecture and streetscapes. Attendees will walk out of this workshop with their own finished work and the skills to sketch buildings across the Adirondacks and beyond.
Both days of this workshop are led by architect and long-time Lake George resident, JB Clancy. This event is co-sponsored by our colleagues and friends at Historic Saranac Lake.
The Friday, September 8 introductory class starts at 1 PM and ends at 4 PM, and the Saturday, September 9 hands-on workshop begins at 10 AM and ends around 4 PM. This tour requires pre-registration and is first come, first served.
The fee is $55 for AARCH and Historic Saranac Lake members and $65 for non-members.
This project has been funded in part by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.
